Bring Your Youth Group
Bring your Youth Group on a day or overnight visit
Plan your visit
Your youth group will have exclusive use of our secluded 1.5 acre camp site. We can accommodate groups of all ages and up to 20 young people at a time.
Use Birkheads Wild as an outdoor base to run your usual youth group activities, or we can co-design activities with you - tailor made to the needs and abilities of your group. These include bushcraft and fieldcraft sessions and guided nature walks which can be a 'taster' for a couple of hours up to a full day in the wild.
If you are 'new to the outdoors' please click here to see how we can help you.
What our visitors say...
"First time I've been camping and I really enjoyed the area!"
"We have had such a fab time learning to build fires and being out in such a peaceful place. Thank you both for making it so enjoyable"

Building outdoor confidence
Developing your outdoor confidence and skills in bushcraft will enable you to survive, thrive and enjoy the outdoors.
The whole ethos of bushcraft helps you to reconnect with our ancestors: re-learning lost skills and considering how things could be done differently with less, or natural resources.
When you spend time developing bushcraft skills with us you will also improve your ability to switch off your brain from the stresses of daily life, disconnect from modern living and reconnect with the outdoors. How good does that sound?
Our approach to bushcraft is about feeling comfortable, confident and relaxed in the outdoors. Along the way you'll also learn basic survival skills, and more about nature and the world around you. Then you'll be able to pass it on to others.
Our bushcraft sessions can be booked separately, bolted-on to an overnight camp or as part of a half or full day here 'in the wild'. We'll adapt each session to the needs, abilities and interests of your group. Sessions include:
- Making Fire - learning to light fires using primitive methods
- Fieldcraft - learn how to get closer to nature without it running away!
- Tracking - feeding signs, poos and clues - its more than just footprints!
- Shelter - discover man-made and natural shelters and have a go at constructing them
- Cordage - making natural string using the plants around you and we can also teach you how to make the classic paracord bracelet
- Foraging Guided Walk - discover the uses of the trees and plants around you
Are you new to the outdoors?
Never been camping before? We'll support and advise you to ensure your group is prepared and knows what to expect.
How we can help
Talk to us about your plans for a camping trip with your group. We'll help you organise what your group will need, from Kit Lists to Top Tips for a great experience.
Come and have a look round the site before you book and understand exactly what (almost) wild camping means.
We have a small equipment library you can borrow from, you can hire our beautiful bell tents and we'll teach your group how to put them up. Try one of our 'taster' sessions first so that you and your group build in confidence in the outdoors.
